Swan Hills Treatment Centre ISO Certification

The Swan Hills Treatment Centre is pleased to announce it has recently achieved certification for its ISO 14001, environmental management system and OHSAS 18001 OH&S management system. Current and prospective users of the Swan Hills Treatment Centre can be assured that the facility has a comprehensive environmental management system in place backed by ISO and OHSAS certification. The Swan Hills Treatment Centre has used many components of ISO and OHSAS for years but decided that formalization of ISO and OHSAS environmental management protocols was important for the facility and its customers.

ISO 14001 is the International Standard Organization’s standard for environmental management systems. OHSAS 18001 is the British Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series standard for Occupational Health and Safety management systems.

The Swan Hills Treatment Centre is owned by the Alberta Government and is operated by AECOM Canada.  The Swan Hills Treatment Centre is a fully integrated hazardous waste treatment facility and since its inception in 1987 has played a principal role in treating hazardous wastes from across Canada including PCB’s and other hazardous waste compounds. As a fully integrated waste treatment facility, it is capable of achieving complete treatment of all wastes with the exception of pathological, explosive, mercury and radioactive wastes.
